Privacy Policy for Ocno
Last updated: 7.3.2026
Ocno ("we", "our", or "us") provides a browser extension that helps users understand, organize, and interact with their browsing context using AI-powered features. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Ocno extension processes, how that information is used, and what choices users have.
By using Ocno, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1. What Ocno Does
Ocno is a browser extension that adds AI-assisted features to your browsing experience, including browsing history memory, page understanding, navigation assistance, search, and local AI-powered analysis.
To provide these features, Ocno may process information from the webpages you visit while the extension is active.
2. Information We Process
Depending on which features you use, Ocno may process the following categories of information:
A. Webpage and browsing context
Ocno may access and process:
- webpage URLs
- page titles
- readable page text/content
- selected text
- page structure needed for certain features
- clickable elements/links on the page
B. Extension-generated data
Ocno may generate and store:
- embeddings/vectors derived from page text
- extracted topics and classifications
- browsing-history-based summaries
- suggested next pages and explanation text
- local caches used to improve speed and performance
C. Settings and preferences
Ocno may store:
- selected AI/model preferences
- extension settings
- dark mode or UI preferences
- whether history collection has been temporarily disabled
- other feature-level state needed for the extension to function
D. Limited technical/request information
When Ocno connects to external services to download models, updates, or backend data, standard technical information such as request metadata, IP address, and timestamps may be processed by those services as part of normal internet communications.
3. Where Data Is Stored
A significant portion of Ocno's data is stored locally in your browser using local browser storage / IndexedDB. This includes items such as:
- browsing history entries collected by the extension
- vector/embedding data
- local settings
- topic/backbone data used by the extension
This means much of the information used by Ocno remains on the user's device rather than being continuously sent to our servers.
4. How We Use Information
We use processed information only to provide and improve the extension's functionality, including:
- building browsing memory/history features
- generating local AI responses and suggestions
- helping users ask questions about content they viewed
- finding related pages in browsing history
- suggesting next actions or next pages
- personalizing or improving relevance based on locally stored history/context
- downloading AI models and required assets
- retrieving extension-related backend content such as feed/update information
We do not use your browsing data for selling data to third parties.
5. External Services and Network Requests
Ocno may connect to external services, including:
- Ocno backend services (for example, api.ocno.ai) for certain app/backend-supported features
- model and asset hosting providers such as Hugging Face and related content delivery hosts to download AI models or supporting files
These services may process technical request information as part of delivering content to the extension.
6. History Collection Controls
Ocno includes controls that allow users to limit or pause collection behavior. In particular:
- users can temporarily disable history collection for a number of pages through the extension menu
- users can clear locally stored browsing history data through extension features/browser controls where available
7. Incognito / Private Browsing
By default, browser extensions do not run in incognito/private mode unless the user explicitly enables them in the browser settings. If Ocno is not enabled in incognito/private mode, it does not operate there and does not collect data from those sessions.
8. Data Sharing
We do not sell personal information.
We only share information when necessary to operate the service, such as:
- with infrastructure or hosting providers that deliver backend content or model files
- when required by law, regulation, legal process, or valid governmental request
- to protect the security, integrity, or rights of Ocno, our users, or others
9. Data Retention
Data stored locally by the extension remains on your device until:
- you delete it
- the extension clears or overwrites it as part of normal operation
- you uninstall the extension
- your browser clears extension storage
If server-side services are used for limited backend functionality, associated server logs may be retained for security, debugging, operational, and abuse-prevention purposes for a limited period.
10. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect information processed by the extension. However, no storage mechanism or internet transmission method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Children's Privacy
Ocno is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
12. International Users
If you use Ocno outside the country where our services are operated, your information may be processed in other jurisdictions where our infrastructure or service providers operate.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
